how to you cut glass (plain pane) into different sized rectangles? With a glass cutter, do you do one line, many lines? Do you use a lubricant, or not? Do you have to score deep? how do you break?
Getting extreeeemely fed up with this process.

Hi Marge.

Use a good quality glass cutter - should cost 10 - 15 quid. Lightly brush the glass with thin machine oil and draw the glass cutter firmly down in one continuous line. Not too heavily, you should feel the wheel scratching the surface. Place something like a pencil or similar under the line you have made in the glass, and press lightly on each side. The glass should snap cleanly down the score that you made (cover with a cloth before you press, for safety). It comes with practise, honest!

Don't have to go deep and don't go over it again, mistakes a lot of people make.

Score is on the topside as you break?
Yes Marge, score on the top, unless you are cutting laminated glass - but thats another ball game altogether...

Thanks a lot. I'll let you know how it goes!
Great advice. I regularly cut 5mm squares of glass 4mm thick like this.
