Do we lose our molars as children?

Do we lose our molars when our baby teeth fall out? Or do they just get bigger for our mouths? This is a running argument with a friend of mine, aha.

From, say about 5 years of age to about 13 or so, all 20 baby teeth are lost and are replaced by 28 adult teeth. Later, usually late teens to perhaps 24 or 25, the third molars or wisdom teeth come in, totalling 32 teeth in all by adulthood. The child will have a mix of baby teeth and adult teeth for several years...

Clanad's right, 10v. All the milk teeth eventually work loose, although I knew someone who had two of these into adulthood!

cool, thanks guys. We couldnt decide wether we did or not with the molars having such huge roots as adult teeth. Ive just had a back molar extracted and im fasinated by how big it is!! haha. the roots musnt be so big on milk teeth then!.
