Surely a service engineer services things. For instance washing machines when they go wrong you would call out a service engineer to fix it.

Most mechanical devices require a service engineer to keep them running smoothly and to fix them when they go wrong.

Central heating might require a plumber or heating/gas engineer.

Your motor car might require a car mechanic.

A factory or office air conditioning system might require a refrigeration engineer.

TV and Audio systems would require an electronics technician.

So different disciplines require different skills and usually would require that you start as an apprentice. You may also acquire skills through adult learning centres, evening classes or local college. You could do Btec, City & Guilds, ONC, HNC. But first you need to decide what it is that you wish to service and seek appropriate carrers guidance.
