Has anyone been infected with spyware as a consequence of a fake advert from Virus reposonse lab 2009? I have run all my routine security checks and believe I have got rid of all the malicious files but the fake system alert message remains on my task bar, popping up from time to time. If I clcik on it it takes me to the website where they try and sell you the bogus anti spyware software that let the bad stuff thorugh in the first place. Any thoughts?

oops

think of it as a learning experience - I don't know - but just bear in mind nasty sites tend to bash as much in as possible

you know you got got - what don't you know about?

personally - I'd rebuild - I certainly wouldn't bank or buy online

(and I hate sto say I told you so - but I wouldn't have clicked on the whatever in the first place - that's the most valuable thing you'll get from this (let's hope no-one else gets anything more valuable from you!)

Thanks! Suffice to say another 2 rounds of security sweeps has resolved the problem and I've got everything crossed that there's no lasting damage. That'll be the last time my novice partner will be allowed on my PC when I'm not there. The bogus advert popped up on e-bay of all places. Not what I'd have considered to be a dodgy site but.....
