Hours of Work

For some reason my brain is not thinking straight this morning so I need some help please!
If I started work at 08.45 and finished at 17.30 and have 30 minutes for lunch which is unpaid, how many hours have I worked in total?

that will be 8hours and 15 minutes

unless you are a civil servant in which case you will probably have 'worked' for about 2hours and 15 minutes
