Hi,
Looking for some advice. Currently looking at a 2001 t4 transporter panel van (1.9 td)SWB to convert for weekends away etc. Van seemed under powered on driving it , though emty at time.
I am considering going for the more powerful 2.5 tdi option. The pros or cons on the larger engine- reliability,
servicing, etc. I dont expect to do alot of towing with van.
W Confused ???

i have bought and sold over 200, 2001 and 2002 t4 swb 1.9td, they are a great van but have one problem which not alot of people know, but i do because i bought all 200 vans brand new and every single van was slower after 6000 miles to when it was brand new,

the answer is the throttle cable on a 1.9td streches, and every 6000 miles or so you have to adjust the throttle cable, its really simple, there is a black cerclip, you use this to readjust the cable, if not the van will be using only 50 percent of its power. we did this before sell all our vans

the 1.9td will save you amount 9mpg over the 2.5tdi both do over 90mph
