Hi, I am sorry if this is the wrong topic section, but, my wife and i are retiring abroad next year and our daughter and her husband are going to live in our house, are there any legal responsibilities we should know of before going, they will not be paying rent for the property(we are fortunate not to need that money) therefore are not tenants. is there a web site or can anyone help with advice, Thanking you. allgram.

Other than that as the previous poster has said, simply ensure you have left instructions in your will for the disposal or transfer of the property on your death. Setting up a lasting power of attorney in the event of mental incapacity would also be a god idea.
Sorry to put a spanner in the works - especially if I'm wrong on this one - but I thought that if you lived in someone else's house, you had to be seen to be paying rent, especially if it's in the family, otherwise it's not an 'at arm's length' arrangement??? I thought the idea was that they could be paying you cash or 'in kind' without you declaring it. Think you need to ask someone who understands these things. Sorry if I'm misinforming you.
