Spring

At this time of year my Grandad always says:-

Spring is sprung, the grass is riz. I wonder where the birdies is.

Has anyone else ever heard this? Is there more to it? Where does it come from?

The Spring is sprung
The grass is ris
I wunda where da boidies is.
Some say da boid is on the wing
But that's absoid!
Because the wing is on the boid.
- Or so I've hoid.

I may be wrong on this, but I think this was used in the stage act of the late Jimmy Durante.  He had a big nose and was known as Schnozzle

I think his nickname was actually Schnozzola, and sometimes just Schnoz.  He of the Inka Dinka Doo fame...

The version I know is very slightly different.
The next lines are:-
The bird is on the wing
That's funny I always thought the wing was on the bird.
