I have recently started work doing loft conversions and have been asked to do some electrical work. I am not a qualified electrician and have refused to do this. Am I within my rights.

"Am I within my rights".
If you are an employee and your employer is asking you to do this, then absolutely you are right.
If you are self-employed and your clients want a turn-key solution, then suggest you get shacked up with an electrician you can turn to the subbie the work to. Otherwise you may not get the work - clients want solutions, not to have to manage a bunch of tradespeople themselves.
