the odd thing about networks is - you can access the big world wide web without a password - but to share files - you have to set passwords on both machines - and have each user account on both machines.
I cheat and have the same account name and password on all my home machines (vista doesn't care that I'm signed on as troll - and troll is also trying to share files with me)
the other thing is that while wireless tends to be at least as fast as the adsl connection (8Mb/s)
machine to machine (peer to peer) will run at the speed of the ired outlets.
so wireless' theoretical top speed is 54Mb/s
wired is generally 100Mb/s - and could be 1000Mb/s
you will really notice it if you shift a couple of CD or DVD size films
