Abandoned Kittens

If anyone finds an abandoned kitten (or two) in need of help, care and a happy life, can you let me know? I live near guildford in Surrey and have two cats, having recently lost.a third. A friend has just nursed a desperately sick kitten (found dumped) back to health and seeing what a difference she made makes me realise how much I want to help. I'm thinking that Kittens already in shelters have a good chance of a happy
home (?).

you would be better of getting in touch with the cats protection leauge or the RSPCA. Most people want a kitten so the shelters are full of older cats who need new homes, maybe you could think about having one or two of those. Kittens are cute but they soon grow up!

Definitely try the RSPCA as many of their animals come from the RSPCA hospitals and have been injured or mistrated.

Depending on your other cats you can also volunteer to foster for the Cats Protection League to help cats get more socialised and ready for homing, nurse them while they are sick, place less of a burden on the shelters etc...

They refund your expenses and will come and build a pen in your garden as well.

Volunteers are always needed for things like homechecks as well.

Many thanks to all who took the trouble to reply to my post, much appreciated. And I definitely see the need to offer homes to older cats too. Trouble is, I have two older cats and I suspect it will be a lot easier from both sides to integrate kittens rather than cats. I'm not sure I would trust myself to go to a shelter - I'd want to take them all home!
But the RSPCA is a great suggestion nonetheless, and I will seriously consider.

I got my 2 lovely girls, Cassie and Andromeda (Romy) from the RSPCA in Chobham, 11 years ago, as tiny kittens. They've moved house twice with us and are now sedate old(ish) ladies, loving their freedom in the Welsh countryside. I've since acquired 3 more cats, but as I'm in Wales and you're in Surrey, you probably wouldn't want to come up here & rescue a kitten or two!! Round here, there are so many of the wee souls - unwanted and un-loved. People round here just don't bother getting their cats neutered - hence the problem. K xx

I know what you mean about the shelters, I felt a bit like that but went up to one on Saturday afternoon and one just caught my eye and is now happily curled up by the side of me :)

To Kleiber - actually, I travel round quite a bit, so a trip to Wales holds no fear for me! So if you hear of any needy cases........(mind you, North Wales would be a bit of a hike!)

I know a lass in Ammanford, who's got 2 kittens needing homes. Honestly, there are loads round here - people just don't bother getting their cats neutered, so there are always unwanted babies. If you're serious, suzie, let me know and I'll send my e-mail address so we can liaise. K x
