When I was out Friday night one of my colleagues said that people are scared of me at work and that I'm some kind of enforcer. My senior manager said during my mid-year review that I was a stalwart whaterver that means. I would hate to think that I'm unaproachable because I do like to help people and I'm trying to do my job to rule. I treat everybody fairly and am compassionate to those with issues. I'm a pussycat really.
Talking about management skills,a bloke once told me when he first got a job as a foreman at a local paint ing firm the gaffer told him if when he listened to the lads conversations in the morning,he didnt hear his foremen being referred to as. T@@@@, C@@@@. OR at least B@@@@@@@. they werent doing their jobs properly. And he would be reviewing their suitability for leadership.
Another tip for getting respect is sack the two worst performers each month, and sack everyone in the toilet more than 5 mins a day .OH TO HELL WITH IT SACK EVERYBODY.
Then only one alternative. Make plasticine dolls of workforce and stick pins in 2 worst performers etc. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel.
