Ryanair

I have just booked flights with ryanair only to find that they charge �4. each way per person (�8) total if you book with any other card than Visa Electron. I have just tried to get one of these Electron cards but they are impossible to get nobody seems to issue them, even ryanair have their own card, but suprise suprise it's not Electron, so where in the uk can you get one ??

Phone your own bank and see if they will downgrade your debit card to an Electron.

If not, Alliance and Leicester and the Co-op bank.

If you're only using it for a limited number of transactions, you could get a "prepaid" VISA Electron card.

You take it to the Post Office, pay money onto the card, and then use it like a normal credit card. You don't run up a credit card debt, or pay continual compound interest.

But you do know that if you book with a credit card and Ryan go bust you'll get your money back, if you pay with Electron you won't.

and joggerjayne its simply what i did for a living (car sprayer) before i had my own business, and it was easy to remember ...

going back to the card my debit card with barclays used to be *Visa Electron* but they dropped the electron bit a few years ago
I know the post office issue pre paid cards but it seems they charge you for every transaction you make so no advantage there, it really brasses me off that the card that ryanair issues is not the one they accept for no charges..

It's because Ryanair, like all businesses, are charged on every card transaction they accept.

If they are working to very small profit margins, those charges are something they can't absorb
