I'm hoping to make an recipe for a soup which calls for 'one half cup of half-and-half'.... can someone tell me what this ingredient is please.

yes half and half is almost like a single cream here in the states and you can get it fat free too. i would say to make it up yourself, you should mix single cream with some regular milk until it finely coats the back of a tablespoon when it runs off. i see you are making soup, i would maybe use just single cream or a low fat one if that would work but thats me just being health conscious, some recipes dont work if you try to do them low fat.
