Hi, i have made a claim on my travel insurance for a cancelled trip owing to ill health. How long do you think i should wait before i start chasing them? I know they received the claim because i sent it "signed for" It should be fairly simple because i sent all the medical evidence in with it. I dont want to be kept hanging on a 0845 number if im simply being unrealistic about the time it would take. Do you think that xl etc would have a significant impact on time of settling claim?
I know i could just ring them and ask, but as above, from a mobile its too expensive!
I would wait at least 2 weeks

Why would XL have an impact on you claiming for a holiday cancelled by sickness? I would say no, they won't
When I claimed on my travel insurance they pretended to have lost all the original documents that I had sent, even though like you, i had them sent recorded delivery.
When I told them I had photocopies that I would send through to them, they mysteriously found them! Keep on at them as they will try anything to get out of paying!
I cancelled a holiday last month because of ill health. The claim forms were delivered to them on Monday 6th Oct. by recorded delivery.
I rang them yesterday, (after two weeks) to check and was told that someone is in the middle of dealing with the claim and we will hear from them soon.
If I dont receive any post from them by next Monday, I'll give them another ring.
So if you dont want to phone them just yet, give them another week.
