Nintendo DS Lite - US query and does it still have a fault?
7 Answers
I am looking to get my son a DS Lite for Christmas. My step mum would be bringing it from the USA. I have read that it will work ok here, as long as I have an adaptor. Has anyone hit any problems with using an American one? Also, has the manufacturing fault with the hinge been rectified now? I am a bit dubious about buying something from the US if I am then going to need to get it repaired. John Lewis may cost more but they would swap it no problem!

I got a US to UK adaptor for charging and it does the job great.
Didnt know there were any problems regarding the hinges, though.
If you are getting one from the US, remember they have a wider selection of colours and, i think, they feel a lot better in the hand.
My own one is the crimson red version - red on top, black on the bottom. The red is a glossy plastic, but the black is a matt plastic, which i find feels better.
My friend has a UK DS Lite and the whole thing is glossy plastic and, if you have even slightly sweaty hands, it feels a bit uncomfortable to hold.
Just my tuppence worth..... :)

I bought my one through eBay, but if you have someone there who can get one, or you're going there yourself, at current exchange rates, the price would be about 75

My sons had DS lites that I bought form Japan - they worked fine with UK adaptors - the one from the US will no doubt be the same. I had to buy them over there because of the colours they had asked Santa for- My older son wanted an ice blue one - which sells over here now as torquoise, my younger son had the black and red one like Mr Bounty's. Interestingly though, the hinge on that one broke - he was forever leaving it about, so I presumed that he had stooden on it - however he subsequently dropped it down the stairs and it now doesn't work at all. we did buy a replacement but it was plain black - as that was the best deal at the time. Anyone want to buy a broken DSL?
