For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.I was looking at this a while ago. I haven't had a chance to test these out, and haven't got time to supply URLs (you'll have to Google), but my favourites were:
Libra (I think this looked best, and you should be able to use a webcam as a barcode scanner, but it doesn't seem to be being actively developed any more).
DataCrow (Also looked good)
LibraryThing (Free accounts have a maximum book limit - I think some naughty people have multiple accounts!)
If you have a PDA it may be worth checking freeware for whatever OS it runs (particularly if it's Palm or Windows) as then you can carry your collection around. I think some of the above may export readable files as well.
Not free, but I have heard good things about the "Collectorz" range.
