what is tofu made from?

soya beans.
It's poss to make your own . Soak , boil and strain beans the liquid is soya milk the solids okara or soya bran . Add lemon juice to soya milk and let it curdle then drain thro' muslin.............Or then again buy it!! I like Cauldron best.

Is it low calorie and whats the best thing to do with it?? Always wanted to buy and try it but not sure how to use it!

I generally do stir fries with it. cube it and fry in hot sesame oil until browned on all sides , lift out ,stir fry veg and noodles add tofu back. we are having it tonight.

And I've just made butternut squash soup for lunch cos it's blowing a hoolie here.Seas are high and boats cancelled.... joy of island life.

Tofu is quite bland on its own.....so it is always good to marinate in something strong-flavoured...like chillie.
