The cigar lighter on my peugeot 206 has stopped working. I can buy a replacement one for about 17 from my local Peugeot garage but would like to avoid paying the 30 labour charge to change it and do it myself if it is fairly easy. Does anyone have any advice about how I should go about doing this or would it be best to leave it to the experts?!

This should be an easy enough job, providing you can gain access to the back of the lighter. I dont know where it is in a 206, but if its in the dash you might need to remove the panel it is fitted in and push the thing out from behind. You just might be able to prize it out from the front, with a thin knife blade for instance, but be careful of damaging the panel. The point is that the electical connections will be simple push fit connectors, that you should be able to switch over yourself in minutes. Then its just a case of re-siting the unit in the car. Better still, give up smoking!

Thanks for the advice.  The lighter is next to the handbrake. - not sure I can prise out from above, would need to get behind somehow!

I don't smoke - its for my mobile charger!
