I have discovered to my surprise that a full system scan with the above is not as full as you might expect. We use Windows XP and have four XP user accounts. If I log on as myself the full scan does not seem to cover documents created by other users. Specifically, NAV reported "no infection" at the end of my scan but when another user logged on and ran the same standard "full" scan it reported an infection (location was "my received files" for that user). Any ideas?

First check you are logged on as an administrator (or that your user account has administrator privilages) if you are than the next thing to check would be that on the other users do not have 'Make This Folder Private' Checked on any of their folders To check this right click on the folder and select 'Sharing and security...' as you and there for norton will not be able to acess the files. All of the above is for win xp home for Pro i think the solution is to open any folder Tools=>folder options=>view=> then enable simple folder and file sharing if none of that works then i am not sure what to do.

n.b. you can only change the make this folder private option from that users account.
are you still able to update nav 2002? if not you may want to buy a more recent version. updates are very critical as new viruses are found daily. as far as your question goes jimmyjojojr pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Excellent info - thank you so much. The solution was in the "private" settings. You can still update NAV2002 as long as you pay your annual sub, but it is no longer fully help-supported by Symantec.
