Comes to something when I choose to watch the gazillionth repeat of the forty year old classic that is Dad's Army rather the glitz and glamour of a load of celebs strutting their stuff on the dance floor?

Never thought I'd do that.

I have to say that I totally agree with you. I am fed up with seeing celebs (which means someone desperate to get their faces on the box, no matter what) do absolutely anything - the next to come is apparently hairdressing called celebrity scissorhands! Hosted by someone I've never heard of with someone from Five Star (a group from the 80's which didn't last long) someone from the apprentice, an Eastender and Zammo from Grange Hill decades ago.
I'd rather watch repeats of Dad's Army any day. I really can't understand why the nation seems to be gripped by the celeb thing and if I hear "Strictly" mentioned again I think I'll scream!!!!!
are you comparing 'like for like' tho?

yes dads army is an absolute classic but surely you are forgetting the absolute dross that would have accompanied it back then also?
You have a point Mattk, there was a lot of crap around then!
