Frankly, the whole notion is based on a rather old-fashioned perception of gender roles which you seem to hold personally that doesn't really work in the 21st century.

Well firstly I agree about the support/guidance thing being my own personal notion based such as it is on my own personal experiences etc. At no point am I offering to people a prescriptive way to conduct their relationships, I've expressed my viewpoint. Take it or leave it.
Men and women make up 100% of the world's human population to live with both can only be a positive thing as it offers the child an insight into how the sexes relate etc.
That said the best sermon is a good example.
Yes I also agree that in many ways I am old fashioned, by no stretch of the imagination do I feel I could be accused of chauvinism but I do reject many of the "modern" notions that prevail today. I feel that they are destroying our country, our cities and failing our children.
Above all else nobody plans to be single for ever, do they?
