How do i clean up my hard drive disk space?
19 Answers
My laptop has 80gb HDD the C drive is saying its full at nearly 30gb mostly due to my iTunes folder being over 20gb. i don't want to delete this as presume it won't be on my itunes so when i synchronise my iPod most of the music and videos will not be on my iPod.
Whats the best way to deal with this?
Also what i the D drive used for as this still has free space on it.

You say you have an 80GB HDD but then say its full at 30GB . When you open my computer what does it say below C: ?
- will be x.xx GB free of x.xxGB .
The D: drive will probably be a recovery partition , should be named this . This is to restore your laptop to factory specs if needed & as such should not be touched

Ok both of you thanks again and i will move my iTunes stuff to the D drive...............and try and clean everything else up a bit like pictures onto cd's n stuff. I also have a 20gb external hard drive so suppose i could put some iTunes videos on there.
Its just i bought an 80gb iPod so wouldn't have to keep swapping stuff about and now with my hard disk saying it full its kind of defeated the object.

Squirtle (good nic BTW)
it is a data drive as it says in the name.
It is considered "best practice" by many, myself included, to split the drive in this way, so you can store all your personal data (pics, tunes, etc) on the data drive. This means if you get a total failure of windows then you can just wipe the system drive and reinstall without losing all your personal data.
sadly windows doesn't work like this on it's own and it requires the user to actually use the data drive. Windows will put everything on the system drive as default.

missspeedy23.............good evening to you, i might actually invest in a larger external drive myself to store all the iTunes erm 'stuff' on.
Now this may seem a stupid question and if it is i am embarassed in advance...........(deep breath and here goes)
IF i store all my Itunes stuff on the external hard drive does it always have to be connected to the laptop for me to still have everything in the iTunes when i activate it?.........Does that make sense, what i'm asking?

It only needs to be connected if you want to add any more music or you want to connect your ipod.
If I forget to connect it first it automatically changes the default folder back to the C drive but as long as you remember to change it back it will sync no prob! If not you get loads of little x's saying the file cannot be located.
