Child has to take water/squash to school in clear [ie see through] bottles that have a snap shut sports style top.  We tend to use the disposable ones a few times then bin them after a while.  Any ideas the best way of [a] cleaning inside the drinking spout? & [b] keeping them sterile.  The was a rumour a few years back that cleaning them could lead to carcinogens being leached out of the plastic - or was this just an interent spoof?

Buy a bottle of Milton fluid - used to sterilise babies bottles

The thing about the bottles leaching carcinogens is true. We got a memo at work about it from the health and safety department. Apparently you should only keep them for a week or so.

As for cleaning I just fill it with hot soapy water and skoosh it through the spout and then do it again with fresh water.
