changing surname after a divorce

When a woman gets divorced what does she have to do to revert to her maiden name. What monetary costs may be incurred when reverting to her maiden name?

Anybody has the legal right to be known by any name they choose, as long as they only use one name and don't set out to defraud.

So really, all the woman needs to do is start calling herself by her old name.

In reality, it may be better to change name back by deed poll - expect to pay around �40 for this. This makes it easier to change name on bank accounts, passport, driving licence and that sort of thing.

A divorced woman can just go back to calling herself by her maiden name, as long as that is the only name she uses.
No one can force her to keep the name of her ex-husband, which could be either embarrasing or upsetting, depending on how the marriage ended.

I may opt to keep my married surname, even when divorced - it's so much more exotic & interesting than my maiden name!!
