I thought I saw a thread earlier, saying someone had read on another site, the AB Ed had resigned, or he was about to resign.

Did anyone see it? I can't find it now. Mind you, it is late ....

Hardly news.
Isnt that the sort of mischief making and incorrect posting folk use dto complain about ?
Before the ANSWERGATE nonsenmse over the report option , yawnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn
A certain person was well known for promoting himself as "moderator" - maybe chief moderator, for all I know. A joke - but perhaps one which the Ed didn't like, because newbies reading in could've believed it.
would hardly have mattered if they'd believed it or not, I don't think, Icy. Newbies should always learn to take everything online with a pinch of salt but the contributor in question was making harmless little jokes, not trying to defraud anyone.

Thanks jno, no wonder I couldn't find it - was looking for it in Chatterbank.

I guess it's a wind-up by Newsdesk, but I am glad the Ed didn't remove it. Hoped he might have posted a reply though.
well jno ill beg to differ with you on both the report fiasco and newsdesk.

you cant have an editor to clean up then try to dictate to him.

my opinion only of course.
If someone's literally green to the site, jno, they're not going to understand how it works.
Maybe Nd was just having a bit of fun, but it can undermine the Ed's position, and we all know what can happen when false rumours start spreading.
thte eds authority has been undermined by the knitting circle on ab suggestions

but hey

free country and all that balllax
Question Author
Ice, we think ND was having a laugh, but who's to say that he didn't read it on another site, and was seriously posting?

And re the false rumours spreading - the Ed should (and does) keep us informed with his blogs anyway.
He's starting to, yes. I was referring to past instances.
Of COURSE Nd might've really read what he said he did. I'm not disputing that - hence saying "maybe" he was having a bit of fun, but even if it's true, perhaps we should all wait for the Ed to tell us himself.
Question Author
Sorry Ice, I'm confused. Are you saying you think the post should have been pulled? Or that ND shouldn't have posted it in the first place?
The latter - but being as though it was allowed, then fair enough. Editor's decision.
Question Author
Perhaps the Ed hasn't spotted it Ice. I don't suppose he has the time to check through everything that's posted on here.
True, but from what he tells me, he can see things "easily" from his end. Probably thinks it's not worth pulling. After all, it doesn't seem to've done any harm. x
Question Author
Hey Ice, as I've mentioned before, I think it should have been left on, even if the Ed didn't like it.

I don't see it as offensive, or breaking any of the Site Rules. For me, a reply from the Ed would have been the way to go.

Anyhoo lass, I am turning in for the night, so I'll bid you a good one.

Sleep well.
Catch yer later!
xx

Nighty night chappie.

It could've been worse. I know the steps down to the dungeon by now! Lol. xx
