Seriously though, they did get old established names (family ones at that) that wont let everyone know just how old they are as they go through the decades.

Same here LoftyLottie. My son is 20 and my daughter is 14 and they both have good old traditional names that will suit them at every age in their lives. Can you imagine all the 90 year old Chelsea's and Chardonay's in years to come ??

i didnt call my sons anything that would cause them grief in later life,saw a young chap on telly the other day called Q, yep that was his name, shame on his parents!!!!

No, we're still very happy with the names we chose for our daughters Jillius & they are too, thank goodness.

I once worked in a high school, in quite a rough area, and you could often judge how badly behaved the new year 7s would be before they arrived by their names.

Funnily enough, the more traditionally named kids were generally better behaved. Much less trouble from a James or Matthew than a Kade or a Tyler.

A woman from an estate in my town has named her twins Ant and Dec. Honest. Not Anthony and Declan - Ant and Dec.

Phillipa. I have worked in schools too and you are right! Unfortunately, people don't understand that you are actually not helping children to get through life when you give them a trendy name. It brands them from day 1.

What about the people that give their kids names that are totally incompatible with their surname. There was a couple in the paper a few months ago called Mr & Mrs House. They called their daughter WENDY. Thats no bull, and very true!!!
