Was going to buy one of these when the price came down omg its lethal dont bother,due to fan breaking down!!!!

just seen that on Watchdog... 'only' 200-odd reports of them catching fire...? Are they having a laugh?

On the other hand, the DeLonghi one I bought two weeks ago was great. Until it packed up last night.

Can anyone recommend a decent fryer that will last a few months and won't set my house on fire?

Just saw that too, I have never liked deep fat fryers BUT I did buy a little one in Currys just for making pakora and its lasted for years

I have one which emitted the black smoke. My wife turned it off and there was no real harm.

We have just returned it to Tefal under warranty and will get a replacement. I could have received a refund, but preferred a replacement.

PS it is 0.4% of fryers that are affected.

It is also not lethal as the material that it is made out of is flame retardant.

Even watchdog could not reconstruct a fryer go up in flames (which they would have tried really hard to do!)
