My boyfirend is currently in a private prison for GBH without intent. He was given a 14 month sentence, and has applied for tagging.! if he got this he would be out end of december, but if not then he would be out april. Some on the inmates have been saying that there is no chance of him getting out on tag because of it being a private prison!! Has anybody heard of people getting out on tag ealry... He has never had any other convitions and also is doing all the courses possible in the prison. which hopefully looks like he isnt normally that type of person, and wouldnt reoffend?!!? replys would be very grateful!

I understood that an offender is made aware of when they can apply to be tagged when they are sentenced. being in a private prison shouldn't make any difference.

also, I don't think doing courses is a sign that he won't re-offend!

He will have been sentenced under the same Criminal Justice Act as people in government run prisons and will therefore be subject to the same rules. He should be able to get a Temporary Release or Home Detention Curfew (tagging) just like everyone else can.
