Does anybody know what to do if your log book gets lost?

I want to change the name on the registered keeper. Its in my boyfriends name but its my car and i want it in my name but cant find the log book!

Just apply to dvla for a new log book in your name.But if you look at the wording of the log book it says it the regestered keeper,the rgestered keeper is not nessasaraly the owner.you can still be the owner its just regestered in his name.Proof of ownership is who the sales receipt is made out to for the car,not nessasaraly the person who appears on the log book.
