Sorry guys.. i keep asking about various cars.
This time - Seat Ibiza. I know they are basically VW's but half the price.
i have seen a 1.6 model and a 2.0 8v cupra sport. Obviously i would prefer the cupra but its an R reg and probably been thrashed around.
good cars though ?

There is a 1.8 20v cupra sport, and a cupra R as well, which is also a 1.8. They share the floorpan and underpinnings with the Skoda Fabia, which is a good thing, honest! Basically they are good cars, as you say, significantly cheaper than VWs. They handle quite well, and are well put together, plus they are just a bit different than the norm. If the cupra has been well serviced, and the owner looks like a mature, sensible type, there is no reason to shy away from it, if you can afford the extra insurance, its a group 15 as opposed to the 1.6 which is a 7! The best engine of the lot is the VW PD150 diesel, as quick as the cupra plus 50mpg. Personally I would avoid the cat-sick yellow colour!
