Any idea where I can get a birthday cake for a 9 year old boy who has allergies to colourings, additives and preservatives? Either that or any ideas on decorating a homemade sponge cake?

How about a bakery?  You'd need to check on the decorations though.  What decor were you thinking that has no additives or anything in it?

Butter cream should be OK for the filling/frosting, and you could use fresh fruit for decoration.

i agree with ursula about using fresh fruit for decoration, on my birthday i was in the czech republic and my parents bought a cake from tesco which had all sorts of fruit on the top, it also had some clear jelly-type stuff over the fruit, i'm not sure what it was but maybe you could brush some jam over the fruit. not only did it look fab but it tasted yummy too. that is of course assuming that said 9 year old likes fruit....:o)

If you had the inclination you could make your own glace fruit, but i think it takes an age...

your best bet is to make a normal sponge cake your self as you know whats going into it then! and then get 'no colourings or additives' squeezy icning ok thanxx
