Is it just me or does anyone else become angry to point of wanting to hit someone when they see people dropping litter. i don't understand the mentality - i saw some tw*t sitting in his car on saturday, opened the back door of his ****** motor and chucked a cider can in the street - it makes my blood boil. Why is such behaviour tolerated?!!?!
Ps. and while i'm here what do the police do with their time these days - i watched 9 guys throwing their beer bottles across the park on saturday evening, smashing all over th eplace(god help anyone taking a 'relaxing' stroll) and snorting coke from my window at 6.30 in the evening.

The amount of people (adults and children) that buy sweets, crisps etc from the shop, then go outside to eat them and drop the litter on street NEXT TO THE BIN drives me insane! The other night there was a group of teenagers came in and bought crisps. They stood outside the shop and spat on the street and the entrance to the shop while they ate their crisps. They proceeded to drop the packets on the street. I'm afraid I saw red. I went out and challenged them on their behaviour. As I expected I got a mouthful of colouful language for my troubles. This annoyed me even more. The upshot was, I insisted they remove their spit from the front of the shop using the packets they had dropped, then put them in the bin. I was surprised that they acctually did as I asked them to and that they apologised! They have all been nice as ninepence since. A little goes a long way!
I was outside burger king the other day waiting for someone.
A car was parked in the slip road outside the shop and two young Asian guys were sitting in the car eating burgers etc.
When they finished they opened their car doors and threw the boxes and cups UNDER the car and drove off, leaving the rubbish in full view.
There was bin just yards from the car.
I cursed them under my breath, knowing that if I said anything louder i would probably get stabbed by one of the morons.
I was SO angry.

I agree totally.
Is it also an offence to spit? Well if it isn't it should be. I was walking home one evening and trying to overtake someone who was doing the snail walk. As I was about to pass him he turned and spat out onto the pavement and missed my trouser leg by a coule of inches. Barstewerd didn't didn't even apologise!

so much litter has been created from fast food outlets, i live in a rural area and can be miles into the countryside down some remote lane/track and can guarantee to find a McDs, milkshake carton or 2, only a matter of time the way DNA technology is going to be able to backtrack to the culprit (ok, so i can dream)
no excuse for dropping it though..i was brought up not throw rubbish so were my kids and my grandkids..it all starts with the upbringing....

I know that fast food outlets create litter but they cannot be blamed for the public not using the litter bins provided. Most fast food outlets have plenty of bins which are emptied regularly. Their legal responsibility for picking up their own litter extends to just either side of their shops and of course they cannot be expected to police the entire town chasing after people who drop the litter on the floor. If you are looking to blame anyone, then as well as the public, blame the councils for not enforcing litter fines, when was the last time you heard of anyone receiving a litter fine? There are not enough public litter bins provided in towns for the amount of eating places that have opened over the past few years. The few public bins that are provided in my town are always overflowing with rubbish and surrounded by dropped containers or bags!
My god the guy must have a long nose to be snorting coke from your window !.
Sorry, on a serious note :
Look mate, your not the only one sick up to the back teeth by these mindless thugs.
The Police in my area all sit in the local station, eating Chinese and watching football, whilst the local hood's run riot.
You will drive yourself crazy trying to work out why these fools do these crazy and mindless acts.
I have had cats in my area shot with pellets, Swan's found tortured and dead, a bull terrier found hanged on a golf course, I sit and wonder why ?.
What makes someone want to torture a cat or strangle a Swan ?.
These are the sick ******** that roam out streets at night.
Your not the only one that feels this way : Lets just hope there is a God come judgement day.

cops are truly busy..........booking all the illegal parkers.....all that writing of tickets; marching about checking each over-run p.tkt; hiding when the drivers turn up! I was booked by 4mins out on Friday...30!
To top that, our local indian takeway shouts 'Hi Paul' to cop, shake hands. chat, takeway bag proferred to cop. The takeway bloke's car was parked alongside mine and had been there all day, no tikt for him!

Littering is just one of the starting points of the downward social spiral, and no doubt you can name many more activities in the same category. I live near a beach with a wide open park. There are litter bins all round this park along with recycling bins for card, paper, metal, plastic and glass. A few days ago I counted 38 items of recyclable litter just discarded on the grass overnight. It's a matter of mentality. Someone pays 150 for a can of beer, of which the aluminium is the single most expensive part. The think that when they have drunk their beer their responsibility ends. Also I ride a motorbike and someone lobbed a not-quite-empty drink can from a car going in the opposite direction. a combined speed of 80 mph. It narrowly missed me. As I say, a matter of mentality.

I am intrigued - thugs, fools, acts, cats, pellets and streets apparently have plurals ending in "s", whereas hood's (sic) and swan's (sic) end in apostrophe s. To compound the confusion, the contraction "lets" is written with no apostrophe.
You are not even consistent in your error.
Why go to the effort of hitting the apostrophe key for simple plurals in some cases and not others ?
Is there any reasoning behind your apparently random use of apostrophes ?
