Crashing Mac computer - anyone else have this problem?
7 Answers
Hi everybody - I have a Mac Mini computer. Recently I've been having fearful problems with sites crashing on me, particularly image intense sites. I'm running Firefox and Safari as browsers and they both crash on me. We wondered if it was a flash problem and disabled flash, but I'm still getting crashes. Has anybody else experienced this, and if so, any tips or hints. Thank you.

Open Terminal in the Utilities application folder, then type (without quotes) "sudo periodic daily", this will ask for your password (the one you use when installing software etc.) When the prompt comes back do the same command for weekly and then monthly. There are utilities out there to run these for you but I haven't tried any of them. No idea if this will fix your problem it it certainly isn't going to do any harm.
Yes, I run Mac Janitor, which as you say can be run daily, weekly etc. I do switch the computer off overnight. But I'm pretty good about the usual 'housekeeping' duties involved with keeping the system running well. That's why I and my other half who has several Macs are a trifle foxed. But thank you for taking the time to reply.
Yes I know, I had to reinstall an older OS after putting newer versions and updates on my system. Some of the newer OS have other glitches. I think what I may do is take everything off and reinstall the software. A pain in the wottsit, but worth a go perhaps. At least Macs don't get viruses ... yet. Thanks very much for your help.
