Hello all,

just came back from the dentist and was on the bus at 11.00. the driver stopped the bus and announced that the bus would not be running for 2 mins. out of respect for remembrance day.

I was well impressed with this and noticed that a lot of people stood still in the street.

has anyone else had any similar experiences today.

I even thanked the driver when I got off the bus for doing this. now I know I am turning into my mum....:-)

Hi afcjan. i have just got back from town, and I was in High Town at 11 o'clock. There was a make-shift tent there for the police to demonstrate awareness, and loads of people around it.
The police came out and stood in silence and the whole of town just came to a standstill.....It was awesome, and as the last chime of the clock went, a load of pigeons flew off and people smiled at this. was it symbolic??
Where i live all the buses pull over and observe the 2 minute silence, they have done for as long as i can remember, like you i think it is a nice gesture.
You're not gonna believe this, but I was discussing a piece of work with a colleague at 11am, when my boss told us to be quiet!!

I felt like a naughty schoolgirl and my colleague was even more put out, as she says 'it is not compulsory to observe the silence'
Hi afcjan!
Yes, I tried to incorporate it into my work as described on wendilla's earler post regarding shedding tears...
yes, i would beleive it funnygirl and goo for him/her. I may not have told you to be quiet if I were your boss but my opinion of you would have certainly gone down a few notches. You're right-it's not compulsory to observe the silence but in ignoring it, you and your colleague were disrespectful.
I meant 'good' for him/her
funnygirl ure colleague was miffed, whats the problem its only 2 minutes of her time, time is of no use to the dead!!!
