It's largely a puppy thing. They seem to learn it from their dam, who eats theirs as an instinctive behaviour to clean the area and deter predators from finding the scent of the young.Older dogs are 'coprophagous' too but they eat other animals',not their own, horse muck being a particularly favoured dietary supplement.(Yuk!)
In the meantime, distract her when she shows signs of doing it, with a treat or toy or simply by calling her.

Hm, I'm a bit confused. If you say you can't be with her all night, how do you know she has eaten her poo? Maybe she hasn't done one.
Pineapple is said to help cure dogs who do this, but basically its a habit and you need to break it by picking up as soon as she has gone. The type of food she is on has an influence, as if the food is undigested then it will be more appetising. Use a good quality high protein extruded puppy food and she will digest more of it and there will be less waste and what is passed out will be less attractive to her.

we used the pineapple thing and it worked, t took 4or 5 good chunks every meal for 20 to 25 kg pups which is a lot of pineapple (buy the value cans) Anyway it got them over the phase and the habit has now stopped. I discontinued the pineapple at 8 months, they are now 9 and a half months and no longer do it
i think most dogs do mine stopped as she got older but she loved horses poo but mine was a labrador and they eat anything the only thing she wouldnt eat was lettice. just tell them of i used to make mine sit and make me give her her paw tap it gently and say no thats dirty naughty and she would stop but i would never let a dog lick my face after seeing this yuk yuk yuk tiara
