DW was arrested in February, then charged and brought before the magistrates' court in July. He will have then faced at least one (and probably more) court appearances to get him committed to Crown Court. He appeared before the Crown Court on 22 October but, as far as I can see from news reports, this was simply a procedural hearing. (It could have been a 'plea and directions' hearing but it might not have even got that far). It usually takes several months from the first Crown Court hearing before a trial date is even set, which usually involves another month or two of waiting. I doubt that the trial will take place until several months into the new year.
AAAGH!! I've just typed all that lot and then actually found out when the trial date is: 16 March 2009.

Whether or not it is something that applies to the Obscene Publications Act I dont really know, but you have to admit, it remains a pretty sick exercise of the mind to write such stuff.
No doubt many felt the same with the publication of American Psycho (which I have read) and Ellis received several death threats about that. The difference I suppose is that the women in that book were fictitious. In the case mentioned, it could potentially place the GA at risk from some nutter who might wish to turn this fantasy into reality, such people as might visit the porn site he wrote the murder blog on.
I wonder if he lost his job with the Civil Service.
