show me heaven cover me, leave me breathless....

pretty popular song. I know Marie McKee and Jessica Andrews did versions and I know Tina Arena even did a version. But who penned it first?

I think it was written by Feargal Sharkey from The Undertones.  I also believe she wrote a song called A Good Heart, which got to number one in around the early 90s, for him in return.

I stand to be corrected, but I think "A Good Heart" was written by Maria Mckee for her then boyfriend Benmont Tench.  He wrote "You Little Thief" about her in reply because she'd stolen his heart.  The extra link is that Feargal Sharkey recorded and had hits with both songs.

That's the way I remember reading it in "Record Mirror" in the 80s but I'm sure Andy will be along soon to verify!

Not written by Feargal. It is a McKee original written by Jay Riffin, Eric Rackin and Maria McKee.

The statement about McKee writing a Good Heart for Feargal is correct.

to clarify (my post crossed with gazza's). A good heart was covered by Feargal but not written specifically for him.
