driving without road tax
hi, can anybody help me please. i was stopped in december for driving without road tax, as it had expired. i was then told to produce my docs to the police station and i backdated tax disk. i did this, so when i have just recieved a court summons saying that i was not insured at the time even though i provided all the documents and i was insured, i also recieved the 80 pound fine, which i paid.
also what are the posible fines that i would face if or when i do go to court?
can anybody give me some advice please.

I don't know how much you could get fined - it does happen, dumb as it is, it kind of happened to my other half (he had the road tax, but the MOT had run out and so had his insurance!). He's just not used to dealing with all that stuff, thought I'd done it, etc etc....
He was very lucky to get fined, but I think the police believed that he was genuinely shocked by it.
Let it be a lesson to us all!
These can be retrieved via a good search engine.
I am standing today for same offence (broken car - taken for fixing - photographed by a snoop - summons issued), and will post the outcome here.
NormantheDog - your very arrogant reply to barryworrall, apparently a member of HM Armed Forces, is noted. You should listen to my advice and that of others who have replied to this gentleman's question - don't ever make any assumptions as to a person's criminality, before that person has been heard and judged. Even then, you should temper your verdict with some humanity, and show a little more politeness and civility than that shown in your biased and vitriolic outpourings - also please learn to take up the space your paragraph requires, and no more.. You are a tw*t, and that's official.
