Car won't start

Car battery is ok, leads under the bonnet are secure but car won't start. A friendly garage advised me that sometimes car immobilisers get stuck which prevents starting. It happened to me but I was advised to take the key out of the ignition, immobilise the car, then switch it off, start the carand hey presto, it has worked for me three times in the last fortnight.

I can't see that the type of car matters. My battery is fully charged, thanks to my battery charger, after a fill up at my petrol station I could not start the car. I removed the key, set the immobiliser then released it, then it started. This has happened every time on at least three occasions. I enquired at a local ATS depot about the problem so they checked the state of the battery which was fine, then was told to try this solution. If it did not work they advised that I would have to have the wiring checked. It is something I haven't experienced or heard of before but two of the mechanics I spoke to knew it could happen. I'm happy!

When I asked the engineers to check my battery because of this strange thing happening, they assured me after their tests that the alternator was charging very well and the battery was fully charged. I have just returned from using the car and had to use the same procedure on my last restart. Sometimes I need to but other times it behaves as normal. I will continue to use the procedure when I have to but I will not be happy until an auto-electrician corrects it and explains why it happens.
