Vertical Blinds fitting question.....
28 Answers
we have had vertical blinds fitted and although they do look nice we have a problem that the company who fitted them don't seem too concerned about and would like advice from anyone who could help.
We have two windows with narrow top recess, its only just over an inch deep. Brackets of 4" in length have been fitted to this recess & then the vertical runner to the bracket. When the slats are then in place we have a gap of over three inches at each side of the window when the blinds are open or closed and we didn't take too much notice of this until I returned home one evening when the light was on in this room and basically because of the gap at the sides you could see right into the room. we have rung the company who fitted them but they say there is no alternative as the runner has to be on this bracket. obviously we were not informed that we would have this 'problem' when their rep came round to quote us for the work. Just wondered whether there was any alternative hanging system that would minimise this gap. thank you in advance of any replies

What a wonderful technological world we have" !!...Wonderful if one doesn't need to speak personally to someone within an organisation, firm, supplier of goods, etc.....You'll know, from experience, exactly what I mean
Anyway, having had my little grouse, I am really pleased at the news about your sewing machine and also the fact that replacements are to be provided for the 'shorty' blinds....Good on you Pat for your determination to get matters put right....However, you still have the unfortunate problem of side-gaps on another blind; which I still feel can be resolved if you are committed to pursuing matters to a satisfactory conclussion. However, please bear in mind that it's easy for me to make suggestions, and then sit-back for you to take action.
I am now thinking that if the end slats could be made-up as a 'half box' formats (Two pieces fixed at right angles to each other) with slats held together at 90degrees by strips of wood or plastic moulding of quadrant or scotia section, an aesthetic result could be achieved.
Sorry if I'm not explaining clearly what I have in mind. Perhaps therefore it would be worthwhile, as you have indicated, seeking the views of another blind firm. (Apology...I mean another supplier of vertical blinds; one with clear vision of your problem,of course.)
Sincere best wishes........Ron.

hello again. I reckon we will have the longest posting for replies on the answerbank soon! good to hear from you again. My email account is up and running again now (virgin a/c with outlook) but the webmail has only been fixed today. I'm tied to them till December but as this is the second time it has happened I will be moving on to another ISP.....but which one? since getting my computer many years back I have tried AOL & they were awful then I went to Wanadoo & they were good until they changed to Orange & everything went pair shaped so I tried Virgin!!!!!
As for the blinds, well, I will speak to them again when they come (eventually) to change the shortie blinds. I so appreciate your help and advice. all the best to both of you. Pat

Hi there again Pat.......Thanks for having responded very quickly to last night's comments and we shall await hearing further from you; in due course.
Incidentally, this afternoon, after 6 days, we came back on-line for E/mails. Consequently we can appreciate your thoughts about changing your ISP. We are on a 'pay-as-you-go' set-up and, cost wise, it seems to meet our requirements.
We've nothing additional to say at this stage, apart from suggesting that, if you ask further questions in AB and feel that we might be of help, you can use this thread to drop us a line. We'll not mind if you use what we think is modern vernacular; such as "Hi you Gower Gits, have a whiff of my smoke in "..........section of AB."
Best wishes..........Viv & Ron.
