Fish pie
3 Answers
I want to make a fish pie but want to make it the day before as I don't have much time to make it from scratch of an evening. Is it okay to prepare it the day before and then pop it in the oven the next day to warm through and brown off the potato.
I know this is fine with meat, but am a bit worried about cooking fish and then warming it through again.
I'd also like to know your fish pie recipes.
Thanks

my recipe for fish pie is microwave some cod or haddock, plain or smoked, till it's cooked and flake it and mix it into some cheese sauce, made with leicester cheese, my fave....top with creamy mashed potato and some grated cheese on top and wack it under the grill. it's also nice with some finely chopped onion in the cheese sauce or in the mashed potato.

Having just found this thread I would like to give my recipe for Fish Pie.
Poach your choice of fish several different types if you like (I prefer undyed smoked haddock for the flavour), in enough milk and cream to just cover until it becomes opaque then remove the fish retaining the liquid. Flake the fish making sure all the bones have been removed and place in an oven proof dish with some cooked prawns and chopped hard boiled egg. Pour the milk and cream - which has been thickened to a creamy sauce over the top and then top off with creamy potatoes mashed with butter and (if desired) a little cream.
You can keep this in the fridge overnight and heat in the oven the next day.
This is not a slimming dish but it is very tasty.
Enjoy.
