digital tv sound quality

The sound quality on my new lcd tv with built in freeview is awful. The is no problem with the old analogue + digibox. I have set up the tv in another area and it sounded ok so I think it must be something to do with the signal. Could the new tv highlight a signal prob that did not show up with the analogue set? The signal quality is shown as 100% but the signal strength is shown as 13%. There is no prob with the picture, only the sound. Is it worth getting an arial man in or getting freesat? I feel disappointed because didigtal tv is supposed to be better.

I think it may be the TV itself. Is it a cheap non-descript brand by any chance?

No its a toshiba.

I doubt it is the signal, as with a bad signal the picture would break up.

Sounds to me like you may have changed the sound menu. Go into your menu and try whatever options there are.

Ive tried allo the sound combinations. It does not help. Yesterday I took the tv to a different area, a new thrid floor flat so the arial is correctly wired and high up. It worked OK which makes me think its the signal at my house affecting the sound quality. Is it possible the poor signal could affect the sound but not the picture? This is my second set. The first one was tested by the retailer but they could not replicate the problem.which is even more suspicious. All this makes me think it is the signal and the new tv is amplifing the poor signal which did not happen with the old analogue set. Would a signal booster help?

How is your sound if you put the analogue tuner on instead of the digital?
