I suppose you think you're funny bringing up smoke alarms and toasting do you?! It wasn't funny at 6am and it ain't funny now! ;0)

My kids always (unwittingly sadly) knew tea was ready when the smoke alarm went off.I didnt have the heart to tell them it wasnt a signal:)
