Nice, catchy feelgood song BUT:
"If her daddy's rich - take her out for a meal,
If her daddy's poor - just do what you feel"

Now - I don't like that.

Oh God yes - what a politically correct song if ever there was one!! I wonder if it made any ripples in its day - I doubt it?!
Don't think anyone batted an eyelid at the time.
...and it was an easier more free time, less PC rubbish to worry about and you are right, no one read anything sinister in the lyrics - it was a catchy tune by a group of the time and that was it.
