Some scientists say it's in their genes. Genes just want to make more genes and perpetuate themselves. So it's in men's interest to spread them around as widely as possible. Women's interest, though, lies in finding the one best man to perpetuate her genes with (since she can only have one baby at a time - usually - and it takes a fair chunk out of her life).

And there's the domestic explanation: men who feel they aren't getting enough sex at home may seek it abroad.

Having said that, plenty of women cheat and plenty of men don't.

I've always thought that it took two to cheat and that would indicate thate the numbers of men and women cheating would be fairly even.
