The Sisyphus explanation makes sense. I'd always thought it must be an ironic name.
I just know ... they hurt like heck and "sissy" seemed like an odd name.
I wonder if they are harder for men, who have more body weight than we do. I guess it's a strength to weight equation. In the pictures, Mamyalynne, there's a guy doing them with his heels on a piece of wood. I can't imagine doing them without holding on to some sort of upright.
