4 Answers
Would a 8 month Chocolate Labrador Retriever be good with a 2 year old child? This lab has been kept outside and would become an indoor dog.

Usually labs are pretty tolerant of most things but at 8 months he's still quite young himself, and if he becomes an indoor dog from being an outdoor dog you may have to cope with chewing and house training as well - lots of things to consider! But I would think that if you wanted to get a dog with a small child, then a labrador would definitely be one of the better breeds.

The breeder has two pups left from the litter and they are both females. The dogs are outside because it is a very rural town. We are going to meet the dogs tomorrow with my two year old son. Is there anything we should look for when my son and the dogs meet for the first time? Also I been around the brother of the pups and he is very laid back with their two daughters 10 and 6 years old.
Very unusual to get a laid back choc lab, they are notorious for being boisterous and have one of the highest insurance claims records for accidents/injuries. Also being an outside dog you may have problems house training. It might well knock over/frighten your toddler, so take care when meeting it.
Other than that labs are usually friendly and I know many kids who have grown up with them. Enrol in a good training class or you will end up being towed around by an out of control dog.
