I was just wondering if a Newsagents has a Lottery machine are they meant to stay open abit later on a Wednesday & Saturday night to give people a chance to get a lottery ticket or can they just close up shop usual time on those days. For example the shop usually closes at 6pm?.

Yes these plonkers do exist and there is nothing to stop them closing when they like. You'd think that it might occur to them that takings increase if they stay open till the lottery cut off, not just in ticket sales. I often wonder how such jobsworth's survived this far in business!

It a;ways makes me wonder why people wait until an hour before the terminals close before deciding they need a lottery ticket? You have a whole week to get them so why wait until 6:30pm on a saturday night?

By the way, I work in a newsagents that does stay open and they busiest time for tickets is always 5:00 - 7:30pm on the draw day.  Lottery machines do break and do go down so you are not leaving yourself much time to get one from elsewhere if the worst should happen!

Good point Sammy, that's why I do mine by standing order. I only do the fixed set that I would hate to come up if I didn't. I wish I never started with this voluntary tax on the poor but I just got caught up in the initial excitement 10 years ago so they got me, damm!

Try this link.....go online and save yourself a lot of hassle.
