Something that happened at work today interests me as far as the law is concerned. A young lady that answered the phone was told by one of those annoying cold callers that she could save the company money by switching to them. She fell for it and gave out the company bank details. My boss now thinks he is tied into a verbal contract even though she had no permission from him to do so. It turns out that far from saving the company money, that it is about four times more expensive than the previous provider and that it would cost 400.00 to get out of the agreement. I think he has a good case to fight this but he is concerned that if it went to court that he would lose. What do you think?
i think if she has permission to give out and know the bank acount details without referring to anyone else, she was acting as his agent and therefore he can't get out of it, unless there is some cooling off period in law? someone who knows more will tell you
